Buying art supplies online is an amazing solution when you can’t go out or there aren’t any art supplies stores near you.

I’ve heard so many people wondering where to find art supplies online so I wanted to check out some sites that have been mentioned in the artist community.

After doing some research, I’ve collected 6 online stores that the art journaling community really likes and uses.

I’ll go over each site and tell you what I love about them, some of the features on their sites that are useful to you, about their shipping policies, guarantees, and anything else you might find useful so you could easily decide where to get your next art supplies stash.

The sites I’m mentioning are:

1. Blick Art Materials

2. Scrapbook.com

3. Ranger Ink Industries

4. Jerry’s Artarama

5. Joggles

6. Spellbinders

Blick Art Materials

I was surprised to see how many wonderful products Blick offers. After a bit of browsing, I thought to myself: I can find nearly anything here. And I think this is true.

There are so many products on their site that you don’t have to visit any other in order to find what you need. However, they don’t have some specific brands like Jane Davenport, whose products I simply adore and would recommend always.

One more thing. I’ve been using Marabu acrylic sprays for years and I love them. But I couldn’t find them online, except a black one on Amazon. But at Blick, I found all the colors and that just about confirmed that they really do have almost anything there.

Browsing/Interface: They have a very clean and organized site where you can easily browse through many categories and find what you need.

Product description: I love how their site offers such a great interface for going through individual products. They have descriptions, reviews, color/size choices, and related products all one place so you can make an informed decision. Also, for each product, you can easily see any warnings about the product itself, like a cautionary label.

Guarantee: Their return policy is something they’re proud of. If you’re not satisfied with the product, you can let them know within 365 days, they’ll review it and help you get a full replacement or a refund.

Shipping: They ship inside the US, but also internationally. Shipping is determined for a number of unique items in your order, that are under $69. If your order costs $69 and more, you get free shipping. Well, that’s really something that makes Blick worthy checking out.

Payment options: Blick accepts credit cards, PayPal, Amazon Payments, and Apple Pay (only on Apple products), checks.

Scrapbook.com

This site is like a feast for the eyes. It’s gorgeous and you could spend hours just browsing around.

If you’re a paper junkie, they have amazing sets of scrapbook paper like Prima Marketing collections. Also, if you’re a big fan of stamps, stencils, or inks, they have a huge collection of those. Definitely worth checking.

They have a clearance section where you can find pretty amazing deals.

What really caught my eye is their amazing art classes held by artists such as Heidi Swapp or Dyan Reaveley.

Browsing/Interface: Their website has a friendly interface and categories are clearly organized so you’ll have no problems finding the things you need.

Product description: Product descriptions are detailed with videos showing people creating with them. There’s also a review section where you can check what other users say, it can definitely help your decision about what to buy. Every product has its own Q&A section which is amazing if you want to research the product a bit more.

Guarantee: They have a full 60-day money-back guarantee if the product is unused and unopened.

Shipping: Shipping costs are based on the weight of the total package, requested shipping speed and travel distance. They offer order tracking and also ship internationally.

Payment options: Credit cards and PayPal.

Ranger Ink

When you’re buying art supplies online, but you need something specific and amazing, you go to Ranger Ink. I’ve been using their products for ages and I love them all. Their brands are just one of a kind, like Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley, or Dyan Reaveley. It’s a great place to get these awesome brands, all in one place.

Browsing/Interface: You can easily navigate and find things you want.

Product description: The descriptions are short but clear and you can leave a review.

Guarantee: They have a 45-day return policy for unopened items.

Shipping: They ship in the US and internationally. The shipping fee is free over $55 (this is for the US only).

Payment options: They accept credit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Shop Pay, and Venmo. They also offer After Pay for orders over $125 (4 equal payments) with no interest fees, only the US.

Jerry’s Artarama

Their site reminds me of Blick Art site. They have a full range of products and media for painting and drawing. I think you’ll find most of your supplies there.

Jerry’s Artarama has a special section for video lessons which is a great resource for art journaling.

Browsing/Interface: Its easy to navigate and find products.

Product description: They have detailed descriptions and reviews with lots of images and videos.

Guarantee: If you’re not satisfied, you can return the item within 30 days. It should be in resellable condition.

Shipping: They ship in the US and internationally. For orders at $45 or higher, shipping is free to the contiguous 48 states in the US (isn’t this awesome?). They also have free shipping for first-time customers, if you sign up.

Payment options: They accept credit cards, PayPal, PayPal Credit, and Amazon Pay.

Joggles

joggles homepage

This site is very new to me, but after browsing a little bit I can tell you it’s a clean site where you can navigate easily which makes buying art supplies online very simple.

Joggles is a source for mixed media art and craft supplies, as is stated on their homepage.

They have a special category for art journals and mixed media, which I find really helpful.

Browsing/Interface: The simplest interface with clear categories.

Product description: Short, with essential characteristics of the products. You can also see the reviews and write one.

Guarantee: They have a list of products that can’t be returned like magazines, pens, and markers. This is what they say: Unopened and undamaged items “may be returned within 10 days of the order’s delivery date at the buyer’s expense. All refunds will be issued as a store credit – NO exceptions.”

Shipping: You get 50% off of shipping if you spend at least $50 on your order for US only. For international delivery, you can get 20% off when you spend at least $50.

Payment options: They accept credit cards and PayPal.

Spellbinders

buying art journal supplies at spellbinders

Spellbinders is a bit different from all of the above because it mostly focuses on paper art and cutting. However, they do have amazing brands and supplies. One brand I’d always recommend, and Spellbinders has so many of her products, is Jane Davenport’s art supplies. She has books, journals, stamps, inks, stencils, watercolor sets, crayons, acrylic paint, gesso, and so much more.

You can get infinite inspiration with using her art supplies, and Spellbinders have a lot to choose from.

Browsing/Interface: First of all, it’s a beautiful site, just as Scrapbook.com, it’s a joy looking around. They have clear categories and a special category for mixed media.

Product description: Clean, with reviews and basic product characteristics.

Guarantee: They offer a 60-day money-back guarantee for unused and unopened items.

Shipping: For shipping inside the US (Domestic Mainland US), you can get free shipping if your order is $75 or higher. All clearance items are final sale and can’t be returned or refunded (except for machines with warranties).

Payment options: They accept credit cards and PayPal.

I hope you got an idea of which site would be the best choice for you to buy art supplies online.

If you’re worried about shipping costs, go through their site carefully to find the info you need. Especially because these things can change.

All of these sites have something to offer to art journalists such as paint, stamps, stencils, etc. Maybe you won’t find everything at Spellbinders, but you sure will discover amazing choices of paints at Blick or Jerry’s Artarama.

I’ve also done a poll in one of art journaling Facebook groups, and most people voted for Blick Art, followed by Scrapbook.com and Joggles.

Empty Easel has done a poll on their site and, among others, it turns out that 34% of artists voted Blick and 16% voted Jerry’s Artarama. Check their other results here.
